30th November 2012: NAOS Asset Management (NAOS), one of Australia’s top performing investment firms since 2005*, is today announcing the appointment of David Rickards as Independent Chairman of the Company’s new investment fund – the NAOS Emerging Opportunities Company Limited.

Mr Rickards is known notably for his recent position as Executive Director at Macquarie Group, where he was Head of Research and Strategy Globally.  He is also a former Consultant for the financial analysis firm Barra International and was responsible for their entrance into the Australian marketplace.

Sebastian Evans, NAOS Asset Management Fund Manager said: “Mr Rickards holds over twenty five years equity market experience at the highest level, and is an authority on the Australian and international equities markets. We are pleased to announce him as Independent Chairman, which is unique for any Listed Investment Company.

“The new fund has been established to provide investors with high quality, transparent and concentrated exposure to emerging companies that are listed outside the S&P/ASX 100 Accumulation Index. It presents an exciting opportunity to generate risk-adjusted returns in the emerging company space. Mr Rickards’ market and leadership experience will be integral to the success of the Fund,” said Mr Evans.

Mr Rickards added: “The new fund presents an excellent opportunity to fill a gap in the listed investment company landscape. I look forward to providing the expertise to help meet the Funds’ investment objectives,” he said.

Mr Rickards holds a Masters of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Finance from the University of Queensland. He also holds two Bachelor degrees, one in Engineering (Civil and Structural) from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelors degree in Science (Pure Mathematics and Geology).

He will continue to serve as Managing Director of Social Enterprise Finance Australia and a Director at Bush Heritage Australia.
