Aurora launches new shows to raise awareness of cancer research & people living with a disability

 No Limits and Dance Cancer Initiative to premier in August


16th August, 2012: Aurora, Australia’s leading not-for-profit subscription community TV channel, today announced the launch of two new programs. No Limits, a magazine-style show produced and presented by people with disabilities will screen Thursday nights; while Dance Cancer Initiativewill showcase emerging Australian talentto raise funds for the Cancer Council Victoria.


CEO of Aurora, Phyllisse Stanton, says: “Coinciding with the Paralympics later this month, No Limits aims to highlight the rich and multifaceted lives of people with disabilities. It’s truly an iconic community show is which Aurora is enormously proud to screen. “

No Limits will premiere on Aurora on Thursday 16th August at 6pm. It aims to challenge the stereotypes of disabled people and reveal the difficult and controversial issues they face.


Dance Cancer Initiative (DCI) has its Australian premiere from Friday 24th of August at 7.30pm on Aurora, giving DCI the opportunity to expose local talent in front of a national audience.


All money raised from the broadcast will be donated to the Cancer Council Victoria for research, counselling and well-being programs.


Stanton says: “With so many people in Australia being affected in some way by cancer, Aurora is proud to be able give back to the community and be a part of this program.


“Aurora continues to champion locally produced content, with Dance Cancer Initiative and No Limits being Australian made shows about real people that aim to generate awareness for both topical issues,” says Stanton.


The DCI show, hosted by Penny Palman (show producer and event organiser), is entering its fourth year on the channel and includes a variation of classical, contemporary and street dancing.
